Providers’ WhatsApp Community

We’ve created this Meals on Wheels UK Providers’ Hub community to support discussions, sharing, collaboration, and joined-up thinking across the sector.
This isn’t just another WhatsApp chat group. It’s an organised space for Meals on Wheels providers to connect with peers who understand the day-to-day realities of delivering services on the ground, the pressures, the practical challenges, and what it takes to keep services going.
Whether you’re mainly here to observe, dip in when useful, or actively contribute to and lead discussions, this is your space to connect, learn, and share experiences in a way that works for you.
Participation is entirely optional and low-effort. We don’t want to add to your to-do list. If you’ve got too much on your plate you’re welcome to read along, mute notifications, or step back at any time.
Join our WhatsApp Community
We’re keen to ensure this community is exclusively for bona fide providers and is used appropriately. To request access, please complete the form below and we’ll add you to the group once verified.
You can find further details about how we use and protect your data in the Privacy Statement further down this page.
What you’ll find inside WhatsApp
Our WhatsApp Community is organised into a small number of dedicated groups, so you can stay informed and take part in the conversations that matter most to you.
This structure isn’t fixed, if new groups make sense we’ll reorganise.
Announcements
Important updates from Meals on Wheels UK Community moderators which are shared with all members e.g. sector news, opportunities, key updates
General Chat
An open space for providers to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss day-to-day service delivery with peers across the UK.
Events & Outreach
Discuss events, webinars, consultations, campaigns and opportunties to raise the profile of Meals on Wheels locally, nationally and across the UK.
Funding & Commissioning
Discuss funding opportunities, commissioning models, contract requirements, and approaches to demonstrating value and impact. Share what’s working locally, flag challenges, and learn from how other providers are navigating funding and commissioning conversations and rising costs.
Volunteers & Workforce
Including recruitment, training, wellbeing, roles, and recognition. Learn how other providers are responding to common workforce challenges and supporting their teams on the ground.
WhatsApp Groups and WhatsApp Communities
What’s the difference?
A WhatsApp Community brings together multiple related WhatsApp Groups under one umbrella. Think of it as a shared communication hub, rather than a single group chat. To take part in discussions you can join one or more of the topic-based Groups that interest you.
The WhatsApp Community is structured to allow us to:
- Share important updates in one central place
- Offer optional discussion spaces focused upon specific topics
- Reduce noise whilst protecting privacy between groups
- Keep participation flexible and low-effort
Someone may join the Community but choose to take part only in certain Groups. In most cases, members in one Group cannot see the phone numbers of members in other Groups.
Our engagement with provider focus groups in late 2025 identified that a WhatsApp Community offered the lowest-barrier way for providers to connect with each other. Far more accessible than us setting up and maintaining a Facebook Group or dedicated discussion forum elsewhere.
Privacy and Data Protection
WhatsApp Communities are hosted and operated by WhatsApp (Meta Platforms Inc). Your mobile phone number and WhatsApp profile name will be visible to other members of the Groups you join – this excludes the default Announcements group. Please only join Groups if you accept this.

What the community is for:
